The gate house is an elegant stone and brick building harmoniously and geometrically decorated whereas the château itself, more austere and surrounded by a moat, surrounds an interior courtyard. On the 1st weekend in August, the prestigious Carrouges Château serves as a background for one of the largest gatherings around the theme of Hunting in France: the Hunting & Fishing Festival. There are venery demonstrations, presentation of hound packs, hunting horn competition, etc., taking place in the park of the château for a colourful event to be remembered.
